Solar hybrid inverter is the heart of solar system, now it is not a strange word for us, but there are still some parameters worthy of deeper understanding.
We selects 4 parameters that are easily overlooked but are crucial for selecting the right hybrid inverter. We hope you can get a best hybrid inverter after reading this article
1.Voltage range for battery
Hybrid inverters are roughly divided into two categories based on battery voltage. One type is designed for batteries with a rated voltage of 48V, with the battery voltage range typically between 40-60V, and they can be referred to as energy storage inverters for low-voltage(LV) batteries.
The other type is designed for high-voltage(HV) batteries, with the battery voltage range generally not fixed; most of them are compatible with batteries of 200V and above.(Deye is above 180V)
You must to make sure the voltage of your battery is porperly for the inverter, otherwise it can’t work
2.PV Input Power
The maximum PV input power in a photovoltaic (PV) system represents the maximum power that the PV part of the inverter can accept. However, this power doesn’t indicate the maximum power the inverter can handle overall.
For example, if you have a 10kW inverter with a maximum PV input power of 20kW, the maximum AC output of the inverter is still only 10kW. If you connect a 20kW PV array to it, typically the power efficiency will loss of 10kW.
Maximum power | 10400W |
Max Voltage | 800V |
MPPT Voltage Range (V) | 200-650 |

3.AC overload Capacity
AC output ports are generally divided into grid-tied output ports and off-grid output ports in hybrid inverter
On-grid inverter is support by the grid, so On-grid inverter will work well even without overload capacity but for off-grid system, it must support of overload capacity in a short time, like the chart, 8KW off-grid inverter nomally is 8KVA, but it could overload for 16KVA in 10seconds, The 10-second time period is generally sufficient for most loads to handle the surge current during startup moments.
Off-grid inverter parameter for output
Rated output Power(VA) | 8000 |
Max output Power(VA) | 8000(16000@10S) |
4.Protocol Communication
The external communication of energy storage inverters typically includes:
- Communication with batteries
Communication with lithium batteries is primarily done through CAN communication, but standardizing communication protocols among different manufacturers remains challenging. When purchasing energy storage inverters and batteries, it’s important to ensure that both products have completed protocol debugging to avoid compatibility issues later on. - Communication with monitoring platforms
Communication between energy storage inverters and monitoring platforms is generally similar to grid-tied inverters and can involve options such as 4G or Wi-Fi connectivity. - Communication with EMS (Energy Management System)
Communication between energy storage systems and EMS typically involves wired RS485 communication using standard Modbus protocol. There may be differences in Modbus protocols among inverter manufacturers, so if compatibility with EMS is needed, it’s advisable to communicate with the manufacturer before selecting the inverter and obtain a Modbus protocol point table.
