Tesla Shanghai Battery Storage Gigafactory is set to achieve mass production in the first quarter of 2025. The initial phase of the energy storage gigafactory is planned to produce 10,000 units of commercial energy storage batteries annually, with a total storage capacity of nearly 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh).
Each commercial energy storage battery can store over 3 megawatt-hours of energy and is suitable for various applications such as renewable energy systems and peak demand management.
Min Zhiguang, Deputy Director of the Approval and Review Center of Lingang New Area and Head of Project Construction Services Office, stated that the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory project has adopted the newly introduced “Project Service Package” in the field of engineering construction in Lingang New Area.
Specifically, the entire service system is pre-embedded into the approval process before initiation from the perspective of the project and specific scenarios.
This approach integrates all matters from the enterprise and government sides into one package and formulates a seamless process flowchart starting from the project.
“Through the design of the service package, enterprises can quickly obtain relatively accurate and comprehensive government service requirements and management requirements from the earliest stage when the investment intention is not fully clear, achieving a seamless connection throughout the entire process.
Especially when encountering problems, there is no need to separately approach different departments, but rather, there is a set of relatively mature mechanisms for immediate response and problem resolution,” said Min Zhiguang.
The Tesla powerwall Gigafactory is not only an important optimization of the company’s global production layout but also will promote the development of Shanghai’s new energy storage industry and green low-carbon transformation.
It is reported that the project covers a total area of approximately 200,000 square meters with a total investment of about 1.45 billion yuan.
