Why we need High Voltage battery for solar? I like to make things simple to understand, LV battery is good for you if your loads are around 1-5KW, otherwise, HV battery will be better option, High Voltage battery provides cheaper cost and higher efficiency, so why not?
In this article, we are focusing on the residential solar energy where the lithium battery most used; So, HV battery referred to its voltage above 100V, and 51.2V battery are low-voltage or normal voltage(PS: 5.12KWH lithium battery is 51.2V typically, 16S1P)
Cheaper Cost:
Someone may wonder about HV battery is higher price than LV battery, why Cheaper cost? Are you kidding?
That’s true, HV battery had more components such as HV control box than LV battery, normally
15-20 per cent difference, but you could save money from inverter, normally 30 per cent difference for both of HV inverter and LV inverters, the reason is inverter inhere to High-Voltage battery when the Power is low to at least 5KW, so lV inverter is special disigned for LV battery

Higher Efficiency
Usual, we use parallel connections to solve the problem when the end user wants to use an LV battery module for a larger residential solar system such as 10KW, 15KW, 20KW or so, it could work stably but the efficiency will shrink during the process, that the inverter of this system need to pay more capable to lift the battery’s voltage and then the things the inverter normally do, usual used of parallel junction inside or add a DCDC module inside the inverter, but the resistance will be larger!
